Flower Seasons in Oregon
When to find each kind of flower bloom in Oregon
Have you dreamed of having your Senior photos taken in a beautiful field of flowers? Then timing is everything! You’ll need to plan ahead so that you are ready for when your favorite flowers are in bloom. There’s also a certain amount of patience and scheduling flexibility needed since we’re dealing with Mother Nature. But you will get the best payoff if you time it well! I can help you with timing your shoot so that your session is everything you dreamed.
Here are a few of my favorite flower field in Portland and within an hour of the city.
Peonies are just poofy balls of joy! They come in light pink, dark pink, red and white. Walking through a field of peonies is your our own personal floral wonderland! They bloom for a short time in May to early June. Perfect for last minute Senior photos or graduation photos.
Even though early spring can be rainy and muddy, a colorful tulip field in full bloom is truly beautiful in any weather! These babies are in full bloom for only a short time: pretty much April is your best bet. Great option for Senior photos before graduation.
Lavender fields are my personal favorite! They remind me of my childhood in France. But you don’t have to travel that far to find lavender fields in Oregon. These magnificently fragrant, purple blooms peak in mid June to mid July. There are fields in Hood River and Newburg.
Portland is known as the “City of Roses” so why not have your Senior photos or even graduation photos taken in this iconic garden. Believe it or not, I actually had my graduation photos taken here a million years ago ;)
There are over 10, 000 roses in the garden plus a view of the city, stairs, scuptures and an amphitheater. The best time to have romantic photos taken amongst the roses is May through September.
Cherry blossoms are delicate little creatures that bloom anytime between mid-March to early April depending on the weather. The best place to go for cherry blossoms is downtown Tom McCall Waterfront Park. One hundred perfectly aligned cherry blossom trees line this stretch of the park next to the Steel Bridge. If you love pink then this is the location for you!
You’ll get sweet wildflowers in the Columbia Gorge in the spring, plus an incredible view of the Columbia Gorge and amazing sunsets. If you want a session here I can offer you a discount since its on my session location bucket list.
If flowers make you happy then why not book your Senior photos when your favorite ones are blooming. I would love to make that happen for you!
