5 Key Questions to Ask your Photographer Before Booking your Senior Photos

Senior photos are a once in a lifetime opportunity! You’ve worked hard to get to this point in your life so you’ll want your photoshoot to be exactly what you’ve envisioned.

That means you will want to find out if the photographer you are thinking of booking is right for you. By asking these key questions, you’ll be able to get an idea of what to expect.

Here are some key questions to ask before booking a Senior photographer.

1. What happens if I am sick or the weather is too bad on the day of my shoot?

It’s important to know what would happen in these circumstances so asking this question to a photographer is vital.

If you were to ask me, Annelise Bliss Photography, I would tell you that all sessions will be rescheduled if the client or myself is sick the day of the session.

Sessions may be rescheduled due to bad weather and no rescheduling fee will apply. Sessions may be rescheduled due to rain, high winds, or too hot /cold temperatures.

2. How many outfit changes we do and where do I change?

Not only do you want to know how many wardrobe changes you can have during your session but also WHERE would you actually change.

For ABP photography the number of outfit changes depends on the session you choose. For an 2 hour session you feasibly have time for 3-4 changes but other sessions have an unlimited amount of changes.

As far as WHERE you can change, you don’t have to worry! I got you covered, literally. I have a pop-up changing tent that I bring with me so that you have instant privacy to change your clothes. Even in the middle of a sunflower field!

3. Do you offer more than just digital images?

Yep, we all love our digital images but you should ask your photographer if they also offer prints, albums or other specialized products. It’s so much better when a professional can take care of that for you. You’ll end up with higher quality prints and products and less stress than doing it yourself.

With that said,

I take great care in creating archival-quality prints, albums and custom vinyl record album covers that can be enjoyed for decades. I want you to have something tangible from your session that can be proudly displayed on your walls or bookshelf rather than in your Cloud.

4. How will you help prep me for my session?

This question is so important because preparation is KEY! You don’t want to be left wondering about how to get ready, what locations to choose or what happens after the session.

I offer a pre-session phone consultation to answer all your questions and also send you my Senior Session Guide which has all the information for choosing your wardrobe, props, locations and what to expect during every step of the process. With preparation comes confidence!

5. How do I book a session?

Some photographers make it hard to figure out how to book. Their website might not make it clear or you may have to fill out a form or go back and forth with emails.

I make the process easy for you! I have “Book Now” buttons on my website which take you to straight to my booking calendar. From there it’s simple to choose a date, pay the retainer and secure your session. You can also text or call me beforehand if you have a question about booking.

Knowing what to expect from a photographer is crucial when booking a senior sessions. I hope that asking these questions before you book will help you make the right choice for you!
